- The officer who was serving as the police escort for the van shot the driver in an attempt to disperse a crowd.
A police officer has allegedly killed the driver of a bullion van he was escorting. According to reports, the police officer shot the driver at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region.
A Facebook user, Francis Ocloo, who narrated the incident stated that the bullion van ran into a funeral procession in the town. In an attempt to disperse the rowdy crowd and restore order for the van to move, the police officer decided to fire some warning shots.
But he mistakenly shot the driver of the bullion van dead.
This incident comes after the trending video of a policeman beating up a lady in a banking hall which has dominated news headlines within the last 24 hours.
In the video, as reported online, the woman, a hawker around Okponglo in Accra, was in the banking hall of Midland Savings and Loans to withdraw her ‘susu’ savings.
The woman identified as Patience Sarfo, according to the report, had heard that the bank was facing possible liquidation and so she wanted to take all the money she had saved with them.
However, the financial institution failed to allow her to withdraw her money and called on the police officer who was on security duty in the banking hall to drive her away. The lady, however, persisted and this led to the policeman beating her up mercilessly.
The video has generated a lot of interest from Ghanaians with many condemning the police officer, Fredrick Amanor, for his conduct.
